Cecille I. Ducey (nee DeLaet), 82
Loving mother and devoted grandmother
A fourth generation native and lifelong Staten Islander, Cecille I. Ducey, 82, passed away on Sept. 10, 2018.
Cecille was married for 64 years to her best friend, Michael “Jerry” Ducey (deceased), and resided in Westerleigh for 55 years. She was the loving mother of three daughters: Michele Sherry, Kristine Ducey (deceased), and Diane Ducey Murphy, and sons-in-law, Joseph DeMizio and William Murphy. She was a devoted grandmother to Milena Sherry, Mitchell Sherry (deceased), and Jacqueline Picozzi.
Cecille graduated from Port Richmond High School as a member of the National Honors Society (Arista), and retired from Con Edison after 24 years as a customer service representative. Shewas a former Girl Scout troop leader and was active in the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
She was a voracious reader who loved dancing, travel, and dining out. She will be most remembered for her uniqueness, intelligence, humor, and generosity.
Burial will be private.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 21, at the Staten Island Marine Corps League from 5 to 9 p.m. Staten Island Marine Corps League, Detachment 246, is located at 46 Ontario Ave., S.I. 10301, (718) 447-2306.
