Vincent J. Giantasio, 90, of Port Richmond died peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016.
Born in Port Richmond, he lived at his present address for over 60 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1946 as an electrician’s mate 3rd Class on the VSS Cooner ship (DE-172) in the Pacific/Mediterranean Theatre. He also worked as a sales manager for Miles/Thom McAn Shoe Store and retired after 45 years.
Vincent was a major Giants and Yankees fan. He also was a huge movie buff, and a collector of movies and beer steins.
He is survived by his wife, Alice (nee Nybro); loving children, Vincent Giantasio Jr. (Nilsa), Alison Solomon (Jordan), and Mary Smolka (John), and by his four adored grandchildren, Taina Giantasio, Jennifer Solomon, Christina Solomon, and Lindsay Smolka.
Funeral from Cherubini McInerney Funeral Home, formerly Meislohn-Silvie, is on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament at 10 a.m. Interment is at Moravian Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be on Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
