Martin M. Gunning
Navy veteran, bricklayer, devoted grandfather
Martin M. Gunning of Port Richmond Center, passed away peacefully at his residence on Nov. 29 after a long illness.
He was born in Port Richmond and has lived at his current residence for over 75 years.
Martin served as a seaman in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1951 until he was discharged in 1954.
He worked as a bricklayer for the Local No. 4 in New York. Martin’s favorite hobby was spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening, cruises and trips to Atlantic City.
Martin is survived by his wife, Joan (nee Woodman); his daughter, Gail Kamback, and son, Martin J. Gunning, and his sister, Julia Grimes, along with his adored grandchildren, Kiersten and Eric Gunning and Russell Kamback.
Funeral services will be held at Cherubini-McInerney Funeral Home, formerly Meislohn -Silvie, on Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Ocean View Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
