Gregory A. Nellis, 57 passed away on Saturday June 8 2019
Loving husband of Darlene (nee Duryea-Keegan) for 30 years and devoted father of Rachel Susan
Son of Joan Nellis and the late Rodney S. Nellis. Brother of Joan (Craig) Phillips, Rodney Steven (Teresa), Richard (Joann), and Gary.
Son-in-law of James and Irene Keegan, grandson in-law of Grandma Carlson.
Uncle to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces grandnephews, devoted cousin, nephew, brother -in-law and friend to many. Also survived by his beloved pet cats Henry and Callie.
An avid comic book and baseball card collector, he graduated from Wagner College in 1984 with a BS in Accounting. Greg went on to work for the Bank of New York for three years and then for Neuberger and Berman for 15 years as a mutual fund accountant.
Greg was known for his outgoing personality and kindness. He often entertained friends and family with his jokes, one-liners and the occasional comment which, although not meant to be funny, ended up being some of his best lines.
Despite having several physical and medical conditions for most of his life, Greg was the strongest and most determined fighter in his efforts to overcome these setbacks and live life to the fullest. His determination earned him the title of the Man of Steel after his favorite D.C Comics hero- Superman.
“Anyone who met Greg, left feeling they had met the kindest man they had ever known.” According to his wife Darlene.
“ Never one to complain about his own health issues, Greg was always more concerned for the well-being of others. He was strong in his faith driven by the love and devotion for others. His faith and his strength were powered by the love and affection he received from all the people who were part of his life especially from his family,” added his brother Richard.
