Irene Alice Seyffarth, (nee Waskawich) 89 of Staten Island, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 15th at RWJ University Hospital Somerset surrounded by her loving family.
Married to the late John G. Seyffarth for 49 years, she raised 3 children, Brian, Kevin and Lori.
A native Staten Islander, Irene was a retired New York City Board of Education paraprofessional who worked at both Curtis High School and Port Richmond High School. Together with her husband, she owned and operated Concord Aquarium in the 1970s.
Irene achieved a lifelong dream when she earned an Associate degree from the College of Staten Island at the age of 50.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Lori A. and Jeffrey M. Ferris of Bridgewater, New Jersey and grandchildren Jennifer and Kristen Ferris and Jessica, Kimberly, Rita, Russell, and Jesse Seyffarth. Irene is predeceased by her husband John G. Seyffarth and sons Brian S. Seyffarth and Kevin A. Seyffarth.
