Eloy F. Berton sadly passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021 at Richmond University Medical Center at the age of 64.
Eloy Francisco Jose Berton Buktenica was, first and foremost, a devoted father who loved his wife and sons with all of his being. A hardworking and deeply driven man, he dreamt of moving to the United States from his home country of Argentina and found a way all on his own at the young age of 23. A new immigrant in America, Eloy spoke no English but took every kind of job he could: mechanic, carpenter, plumber, roofer, a jack-of-all-trades. He was self-taught and took on projects before he even knew how to accomplish them but always followed through and delivered.
Soon, he met Amelia – his wife – and asked her to go out on a date but was squarely rejected. Eloy was the embodiment of perseverance and asked over and again until she accepted, and of their love were born three sons and his greatest joys in life: Juan, Roberto, and Emilio. With his family, he always shared and fostered his most important values of love, unity, curiosity, persistence, and kindness.
His family was always his priority and providing for them was his deepest expression of love. He worked relentlessly to ensure that his family had a safe home and all of life’s necessities. He was the youngest of five and the only one to leave his home country of Argentina, yet he managed to help his mother and siblings from a continent away. Eloy was headstrong and self-motivated, he had a vision of a better life that only he could see, not his siblings nor his friends nor his wife thought his goals were possible. However, he found a way, he pushed through, he suffered and toiled and bit off more than most could chew and made good on his ambitions all on his own. He savored his life and was a good example to all that met him. He will forever be missed and needed.

Growing up with his son, Roberto, I can see the kind of father and person he was. He was a hardworking person that was trying to achieve his dreams of building a good life for his family. In many ways he have achieve that and I only wish that he was still here to enjoy it with his family. May my condolences bring you comfort and may my prayers ease the pain of this loss.
