We are sad to announce that on July 10, 2021, William Soto passed away peacefully at (RUMC) Richmond University Medical Center, in Staten Island. He was 94 years old.
William Soto, also known to many of his friends as Willie, was born December 12, 1926, in Yuaco, Puerto Rico. His family relocated to Brooklyn, NY, as a young man where he lived most of his life.
He worked as a porter for many years but had the skills of a business man. He was known to many people to be a generous man who enjoyed helping others; even if it meant the shirt off his back.
He was “Willie de la bodega”… “el banquero”… One of his favorite sayings was “Puerto Rican Power”
He kept the faith and fought a good fight!

Papi, I will forever miss you even though I know you are here with me in heart and spirit… I wanted to share something that one of your nieces shared with me. Somethings I would never have known. “I love everything you did for my uncle my Tio lindo William. He would make best ever pescado en escabeche in Wilson Ave, in back of the bodega. He would make his specialty and some of our friends police, detective and sergeant would stop by to eat in the back of the store.” By your niece!
Te quiero mucho 😘 gracias por darme el amor de padre como tu solo sabias hacer.
