Victor Scalici, 88
Victor Scalici passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at the age of 88.
Born and raised in Staten Island, Victor graduated from McKee High School and married the love of his life, Aida whom they’ve been married for over 66 years.
Victor pursued a career as an Operating Engineer and worked for the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 15. He was also the owner of Victor Scalici Florist and Greenhouse in Port Richmond, including raising heffers and hay at his farm in Pennsylvania.
Victor had many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed Trap Shooting, working with his plants and flowers, watching cowboy movies, listening to country music and loved Mickey Mouse…he loved everyone.
He was a member of the Staten Island Sportsmen’s Club, Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society and a former member of the Colonial Rifle and Pistols Society, as well as a parishioner of St. Roch’s RC Church.
Victor is survived by his loving wife, Aida, his children, Antoinette (Eddie), Peter (Barbara), Augie (Sue) and Victor (Diana) Scalici and his sister, Martha Scalici. Also survived by 8 loving grandchildren Eddie, Annie, Rachel, Victoria, Anthony, Diana, Victor and Joseph, including 4 great grandchildren Avyana, JonCarlo, Elianna and Francesca. As well as several nieces and nephews and one nephew who was always a son to Victor, Thomas.
He is predeceased by his parents, Peter and Antonette, his brother Jack and his sister Madeline Yannone.
In lieu of flowers donations to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital or the Tunnel for Towers would be greatly appreciated.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cherubini McInerney Funeral Home, 1289 Forest Avenue. Family and Friends will be received on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 3pm ~ 7pm, with a funeral mass on Saturday at St. Roch’s RC Church (Port Richmond) at 10:30am followed by a burial at Ocean View Cemetery.
