Michael John Skeans Jr. passed away at the young age of 17 at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City on Monday, June 19th, 2023.

He is survived by his mother and father, Dawn Gilmore and Michael J. Skeans Sr., three sisters Melissa Skeans, Kristin Attianese (Ryan), Alyssa Carucci (Joe), three nephews and one niece, Guiseppe (Zeppe), Ryan, Dylan and Addison, Grandparents James (Buddha) and Joan Gilmore, aunts and uncles, Al (Maureen), Kellie (Eddie), Chris (Lorraine), Christopher (Andrea), Cheryl (Riz), cousins Eddie, Nicky, Christopher, Isaiah, Jacob, Gianna, Noah and Xavier and many other Great Aunts, Great Uncles and cousins.
Michael was a kind soul. He was soft spoken, gentle and thoughtful. Michael loved your typical teenage activities: video games, sports, WWE and anything Marvel. Watching sports, especially the Cowboys, Yankees, Islanders and Bulls, with his dad was one of his favorite past times. Michael collected Funko Pops and dreamed of visiting every zoo and aquarium in the world! He loved animals, especially his old dog, Storm. A trip to the movies was exciting for Michael. He loved watching his favorite Marvel movies on the big screen with his dad. On hot summer days Michael looked forward to swimming for hours in the pool with his niece, nephews and cousins. During dinnertime Michael and his mother would team up against his dad poking fun and laughing as a family. They all loved watching television together and going on family outings. Michael and his dad were best of friends, but he and his mother had an unspoken bond. With a simple nod and a smile, they knew exactly what the other was thinking.
Michael John Skeans Jr. was truly “one of the good ones”. He never hurt anyone and never got into trouble. He was a genuine soul with an unfathomable capacity for love. He was known as a gentle giant and even as a little boy Michael’s love could be seen by all. That love in his heart will continue to live on through Michael’s friends and family.
Michael is preceded in death by his Grandparents Alfred and Virginia Skeans.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
