September 3, 1938 ~ April 22, 2024
Antoinette (Annette) Marie Esposito (nee DeSimone), fondly known as ‘St. Annette of the Hood’ and a resident of Port Richmond for 55 years, earned her angels wings on April 22, 2024 at the age of 85. She is survived by her children Anthony (Margaret Ann Baccicheti), John (Sabrina Sassano), Michele (Chris Besey) and grandchildren Katie, Angela and Jake. Her husband Jimmy preceded her in death in 1988, as did her daughter Janine in 2002. Not only was Annette a dedicated advocate for her community but a shining example of her unwavering faith. Most recently as a tireless volunteer for Project Hospitality, the El Centro food pantry, and the Crossroads Foundation, she previously worked for Catholic Charities, volunteered and taught at St. Mary’s of the Assumption school and church, and was an active member of the Port Richmond Civic Patrol, earning a Woman of Achievement honors for her community work. She would stop and chat with everybody in her neighborhood and beyond, while walking the 16 blocks to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. She was never at a loss for empathy, compassion or time with loved ones and always greeted friends and strangers alike with a beautiful smile. There is so much more to say… She was the epitome of sacrifice and strength and she will be truly, truly missed.

Our deepest sympathies go out to our dear friends, the Esposito Family, and her beloved Port Richmond community. Anyone who ever met Annette was touched by her love, faith and light. Her compassion and dedication to those less fortunate was beyond admirable. If we could all be just 10% “Annette”, the world would be a much brighter & happier place. Her elegant simplicity will truly be missed. We share in your grief – she has taken a piece of our hearts with her. We were fortunate and blessed to have know such a wonderful woman.

Deepest sympathy to the Esposito family for the loss of Antoinette. According to Psalm 90:10, Antoinette was blessed with special strength. May your fond memories and encouraging scriptures such as Acts 24:15 and Revelation 21:3,4 comfort your family during this difficult time.

Ms. Annette, my lovely neighbor for the past 26 years will be sorely missed. She was always so soft spoken and sweet — without fail, she walked arm in arm with me every morning to the bus stop, while we chatted. She made sure to tell me every day that she would pray for me. I always told her to be careful walking and not to talk to any strangers. Who was I kidding? She talked to everyone because that’s just who she was — friendly, empathetic and compassionate. I will miss our morning walks, talks and that infectious smile. I feel extremely lucky to have known her; May she rest in peace.

Momma Espo was such an amazing woman! I remember almost every interaction that I had with her from over 30 years ago. Her contagious smile, her dedication to the Catholic church, her volunteer activities and her overall kindness. It was impossible to feel sad in her presence because she radiated such positive energy! And of course, her chicken cutlets were out of this world. 🙂 This is a devastating loss, but I know she will watch over the Esposito family from above. God bless her beautiful soul! xoxo

Our condolences to Anthony, John, Michele and other members of the family.
We were heartbroken when we heard and read of her passing.
She was such a beautiful person inside and out.
We feel extremely lucky to have known Annette and the whole family for around 47 years.
She will always be in our hearts, and we will cherish the unforgettable memories of the past, especially, when my son used to go over to her house and play with Anthony, John and Michele.
Our son learned a lot from such a wonderful family.
She will always be in our memories forever.
May she rest in peace.
