Audrey Sorensen, age 61, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 11th, 2022. She was the loving daughter of Catherine and the late Frank Sorensen. She was the devoted sister of Frank Sorensen, Karen Sorensen and John Sorensen. She was the cherished aunt of four nieces and nephews and great aunt of five nieces and nephews.
Audrey was born and raised in Westerleigh and graduated from Blessed Sacrament and Port Richmond High School. She received her nursing degree from St. Vincent’s and her Bachelors of Science degree from New York University. Audrey was a highly regarded Development Research Nurse for NYU Perlmutter Cancer Center. She traveled and worked with doctors without borders.
Audrey lived in Manhattan for many years before recently moving to Red Bank, NJ.
Audrey enjoyed going to New York Jet games and was a season ticket holder for over 30 years. She loved going to the beach and vacationing to many various locations over the years.
Audrey will be remembered as a caring, loyal, funny and selfless person with a wonderful sense of humor who will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure to know her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the NYU Cancer Center in Audrey’s memory.
Funeral from the Cherubini McInerney Funeral Home, 1289 Forest Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10302 on Saturday, 1/15/2022, departing at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Holy Family R.C. Church at 10:00 AM. A private cremation will follow. Family and friends may visit on Friday, 1/14/2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 9:00 PM.
