Glenys Borg

Glenys Catherine Borg 77, loving mother and grandmother, resident of Midland Beach since 1973, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, October 29 2019, in Staten Island University Hospital, surrounded by her family. Glenys, born October 30, 1942 in Cardiff Wales, immigrated to New York in 1962 and landed in Staten Island in August 1973.  Glenys was a strong and resilient woman who overcame many and frequent obstacles during her life. Her unique perseverance showed the way to all who were blessed to be a part of her story. Glenys not only set the example of what a strong and independent woman should be, but encouraged those around her to find the courage from within to speak up and stand up for what was right.  Glenys was a very tough cookie and savvy woman who never let her emotions get the best of her, but showed kindness to all she loved. Glenys enjoyed spending time with her family. Survived by her four sons: Victor Borg, Joseph Borg, Dennis Lopez, Daniel Lopez; and two daughters: Dawn Calle and Miriam Alsaidi. Devoted grandmother to the pride and joys of her life, her twelve grandchildren, Christen, Neive, Faith, Adam, Victor, Grace, Alex, Matthew, Elliott, Rhiannon, Derek and Emma. Loving sister to David, Tony, Edward, Daphne, Kelvin and Dennis. The family will receive friends Friday, November 1, from 6pm to 9pm at Cherubini McInerney Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at Cherubini McInerney Funeral Home at 9am on Saturday, November 2nd. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
