On Wednesday, December 2nd, 2020, Sergio Cortes, loving husband and father of 3 children, passed away at age 73.
Sergio was born on February 7th, 1947 to Sergio and Georgina Cortes.
He was raised in Brooklyn New York by his loving Father, Mother and his two sisters Minerva and Mina Cortes. Sergio is the father to three children, Annie, Christopher and Johnny Cortes. In, 1978, he married Luz Torres who remained at his side thru their journey in life supporting one another, over-coming obstacles and enjoying all that real love had to offer. Together they raised their son, Johnny Cortes.
Sergio dedicated his life to his family, offering guidance and help to any that were in need. He never faltered in ensuring his family was his number one priority. From caring for his mother and father, being there for his sisters, nephews and nieces, loving his wife and raising his two sons he was a supporting rock lifting those around him.
Sergio had many passions. He loved things that inspired imagination and challenged the mind, and he loved science fiction that brought along possibilities of new and exciting worlds. A brilliant and tactile mind who enjoyed the strategic battles waged thru history and the challenge presented and overcome. His happiness came from moments shared with his family from simply enjoying a meal or watching a movie. He was known for his incredible intellect, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
Sergio was preceded in death by his father, Sergio, and his mother, Georgina and his sister Minerva. He is survived by his wife Luz, his Three children, Annie, Christopher and Johnny, his grandchildren Ryan, Eric, Alexis, Jason, Shawn, his sister Mina, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 7th, 2020 at Cherubini McInerney Funeral Home, at 8:30 a.m. Church services will be conducted in Blessed Sacrament Church and Burial will take place within Silver Mount Cemetery.

We are very sad with Sergio’s death. We loved him so much and he was very special and an important part of our closest family. We remember how kind he was with us when we visited him in New York and how many good times and memories we spent with him here in Puerto Rico when he came over. May he rest in peace and we sent him our most sincere and deepest condolescences from Puerto Rico. We will always remember him and we’ll never forget him. He will remain in our heart and thougths for ever.
